In this introduction we will take our smallest variant as an example, but the same principles apply to all other variants. Tx312=First of all, let's take a quick look at LOGO!: Tx313=At the top, you can see the connections L1 and N for the power supply and the connectors for LOGO!'s inputs. The inputs are labeled I1 to I6. Tx314=Under this, you can see the shaft for the program module (card) and the LOGO! PC cable. You should always keep the shaft covered to prevent dirt getting into it or somebody putting a finger or an object into it. Tx315=Under the shaft, you can see LOGO!'s keys: the four, gray, triangular cursor keys and, under these, the turquoise ESC and OK keys. You will learn more about the keys in a moment. Tx316=The display panel is to the left of the keys. At the moment, the words "No Program" are displayed there because you have not yet entered a circuit in LOGO!. Tx317=At the bottom of the module, you can see the connectors for LOGO!'s outputs. You will learn more about these a little later. Tx318= Tx319=Now click the >> button below. ; -- Explanation of working with LOGO!'s keys Tx320=LOGO!'s Keys Tx321=Let's begin by having a look at LOGO!'s keys: Tx322= Tx323=The four gray, triangular keys are the cursor keys. You use the cursor keys to move the cursor around the display panel or move around a menu. Tx324=The OK Key Tx325=You use the OK key to accept a selection, open a menu or respond to a question from LOGO!. Tx326=The ESC Key Tx327=You use the ESC key to reject a selection, go back to the previous menu, go back to the previous input step or exit circuit input. Tx328= Tx329=Click the >> button to see the next page. Click the << button to return to the previous page. ; -- Explanation of LOGO!'s LCD Tx330=LOGO!'s Display Tx331= Tx332=When LOGO! is in RUN, you see here the state of the inputs, the time (provided your version of LOGO! has a clock), the state of the output relays, and the word RUN, indicating that LOGO! is in RUN. Tx333=State of the Inputs Tx334="I:123456" appears in the first line of the display. I stands for input. When no voltage is applied to an input, its state is '0'. When voltage is applied to the input, its state is '1'. The relevant input number then appears in inverse video (in this case, I1 and I3 = 1). Tx335=In the second line, you see either the time that is set (in versions of LOGO! with an integrated clock) or a blank line is output (in versions without a clock). Tx336=In the fourth and last line, you see "Q:1234 RUN". Q stands for output. To avoid confusion between O and 0, we decided to use the letter Q to denote an output. When the output relay is open, its state is '0'. When the output relay is closed, its state is '1'. The relevant output number then appears in inverse video. Tx337=RUN means that LOGO! determines the states of the inputs, determines via the circuit the states of the outputs, and switches the relays on and off. In short, LOGO! behaves in the same way as wired circuitry. Tx338=On LOGO! ...L... variants, the display reflects the increased number of inputs and outputs. The word RUN is not displayed. If you press a cursor key (arrow down) in RUN, LOGO! ...LB11 variants give you an overview of the inputs and outputs on the ASi bus. Tx339= ; -- Explanation of LOGO!'s connectors Tx340=LOGO!'s Connectors Tx341=LOGO! has connectors for the power supply, inputs and output relays. Tx342=All LOGO! 230... variants can be used with line voltages of 115 V, 120 V, 230 V and 240 V and with line frequencies of 47 to 63 Hz. Tx343=You connect the inputs to the same phase as the mains power supply. This is important, because otherwise the voltages in LOGO! would be too high and could destroy it. Please bear this in mind when wiring LOGO! 230R/RC. Tx344=In all LOGO! ...L variants, the inputs of each group of four (I1 ... I4, I5 ... I8, I9 ... I12) are connected to a single phase (e.g. I1 ... I4 to L1, I5 ... I8 to L2, I9 ... I12 to L3). Tx345=LOGO!'s outputs are relays. The relays are isolated both from each other and from LOGO!'s electronics. Because the output relays are isolated, you can control different phases via the outputs (e.g. L1 with Q1, L2 with Q2 and L3 with Q3), and you can use Q4 to switch a 24 V network. Tx346=You can subject the relays to up to 8 A if you have an ohmic load. In the case of an inductive load, a maximum of 2 A can be switched via the relay. Tx347=When entering the circuit, you simply specify the name of the connector in order to connect it up: The connectors are named I1 to I6 and Q1 to Q4. Tx348= Tx349= ; -- Explanation of LOGO! - 3-finger combination Tx350=Switching to Programming Mode (3-Finger Combination) Tx351=In order to enter a circuit, you first have to switch LOGO! to programming mode. Tx352=However, you can do more than just enter circuits in programming mode - you can also copy and delete circuits, set the time, or have LOGO! exchange data with a PC. Tx353=To switch to programming mode, press the LEFT, RIGHT and OK keys simultaneously. We have chosen a somewhat unusual key combination to prevent people from switching to programming mode by mistake. Our developers have come to refer to this as the 3-finger combination. Tx354=To find out how to enter a circuit, refer to the LOGO! manual or the graphical guide that comes with LOGO!, or simply try it out. It really isn't difficult. Tx355=You will of course also find information on entering a circuit in LOGO!Soft's on-line help system. Tx356= Tx357= Tx358= Tx359= ; -- Explanation of LOGO! - 2-finger combination Tx360=Switching to Parameterization Mode (2-Finger Combination) Tx361=Once you have entered the circuit and installed LOGO! in the distribution box or cabinet, you may want to change some of the parameters in the program or enable your customer to change certain parameters (e.g. switching times of the integrated clock or delay times of time relays). Tx362=You do this in parametrization mode. You can set the time in LOGO! and display and change selected parameters. Tx363=You switch LOGO! to parameterization mode by pressing the ESC and OK keys simultaneously. Our developers have come to refer to this as the 2-finger combination. Tx364=In parameterization mode, LOGO! continues to process the circuit. In other words, LOGO! is still in RUN (RUN has already been explained in an earlier part of this introduction). Tx365=By the way, our chief developer is particularly proud of the display of the current parameters in parameterization mode. For example, during a relay with an on-delay, you can see the value of the current time Ta. This is designed to help you when testing circuits. Tx366=You will find more information on parameterization mode in LOGO!Soft's on-line help system, the LOGO! manual and the graphical guide that comes with LOGO!. Tx367= Tx368= Tx369= ; -- Explanation of LOGO! - entering a circuit Tx370=LOGO! - Entering a Circuit Tx371=In order to enter a circuit, you have used the 3-finger key combination to switch LOGO! to programming mode. Tx372=Now position the > in front of Program..., and press the OK key twice. LOGO! displays the first output, Q1. Tx373=You always enter a circuit starting at the output (Q). You can connect output Q1 to an OR block, for example, and you can connect the inputs of the OR block to other blocks or to LOGO!'s connectors. Tx374=Once you have connected all the block inputs to other blocks or a connector, your circuit is complete. As soon as you complete a circuit at a specific output, the display returns to the output and you can select the next output in order to enter the circuit there. Tx375=LOGO! normally provides you with guidance when you enter a circuit. In other words, LOGO! indicates one after the other the positions at which it expects you to make an entry. Tx376=When your circuit is complete, press the ESC key, and LOGO! will then save the circuit. Tx377=You will find more information on connectors, blocks and entering a circuit in LOGO!Soft's on-line help system, the graphical guide that comes with LOGO! and the LOGO! manual. Tx378= Tx379= ; -- For additional support: information on the on-line help system Tx380=LOGO!Soft's On-Line Help System Tx381=You will find more information on how to program LOGO! using LOGO!Soft in LOGO!Soft's on-line help system. Tx382=You access the help system by choosing Help from the menu bar, followed by an item from the menu. Tx383=You can also access the help system by pressing the F1 key. Tx384=You use LOGO!Soft's help system in exactly the same way as any other Windows help system. Tx385=The dealer from whom you obtained LOGO!Soft will be pleased to help you. The dealer can also provide you with the LOGO! manual, the LOGO! PC cable and, of course, LOGO! itself. Tx386=That brings us to the end of this brief introduction.
